Innomesh Wins
Control and Management
Technology of the Year
at the AV Awards 2026
Cloud-native AV control with no processor in the room, delivered as a service, and room control that lets a blind academic run the room from his own phone without asking for help. That is what won over the judges in London. Here is the story behind our entry.

On Friday 6 November, at Evolution London, Innomesh was named Control and Management Technology of the Year at the AV Awards 2026, run by AV Magazine. The judges backed a different kind of AV control system: control in the cloud instead of a processor in every room, managed like the rest of IT and wrapped in an end-to-end service. And the part of our entry I am proudest of is the one that lets a blind academic take control of his teaching room on his own, without waiting for anyone to set it up for him.
Thank you to AV Magazine and the judges, to our UK partner Polar for accepting the trophy on our behalf, and above all to our customers. Every capability in this entry started as a problem one of them brought to us.
The judges · AV Awards 2026
“The judges felt this was an innovative solution that addresses some of the industry’s biggest management and scalability challenges, making it a deserving winner.”
What did the judges recognise?
AV Magazine described Innomesh as a platform that delivers scalability, reliability and operational efficiency at real scale, and pointed to the move from room-based processors to a cloud-native architecture as a genuine change in how spaces are managed and maintained.
That move is the whole idea. For decades, a traditional AV control system has meant a control processor in every meeting room and lecture theatre, custom-programmed one room at a time. Nobody had a central view of what was working, and fixing or changing a room meant sending someone on site one room at a time. Across hundreds or thousands of rooms, that model is slow, costly and hard to manage. Monitoring on its own does not fix it: as we have written before, if your AV platform ignores the control layer, you are flying blind.
Visibility
- Room by room
- No central view across rooms
- With Innomesh
- One live view of every room, device, the network and backend services
Maintenance
- Room by room
- Slow, costly site visits
- With Innomesh
- Fixed and updated remotely, from one template from the cloud
Data
- Room by room
- Little or no usage data
- With Innomesh
- Usage and performance data from every room, asset, service and platform
Security
- Room by room
- Secured device by device
- With Innomesh
- Policies enforce secure settings on every device and fix drift automatically
- On a SOC 2 Type 2 certified cloud platform.
Innomesh moves the control logic into the cloud. With cloud-based AV control, rooms are configured from templates instead of programmed, and they pick up new features the day those features ship. It works as a layer on top of the equipment you already own, from the brands you already use, so nothing is ripped out and every room gets years more life from its hardware. As one AV management platform, Innomesh monitors, manages and controls every space agnostically, with equipment from more than 100 manufacturers.
It runs at scale today. Innomesh manages more than 100,000 devices for 25+ enterprise customers across APAC, the US, the UK and the EU, and it has delivered 99.99% uptime over 8+ years in production.
Why was accessibility at the heart of our entry?
Of everything we put in front of the judges, Assistive AV Control is the one I would point to first.
It started with a remarkable person. For most of his career, Professor Paul Harpur, one of Australia's leading disability rights scholars and a totally blind academic at the University of Queensland, began every lecture by asking someone else to start the room for him. The touch panel assumed the person pressing the buttons could see it.

Room control that does not assume vision
In conversation with Professor Paul Harpur, University of Queensland, on how Assistive AV Control came to be.

Professor Harpur shaped the answer. We did not build a special device for one academic. We built accessible AV control that runs through the screen readers people already use every day: VoiceOver on iPhone and TalkBack on Android. From their own phone, they can control every part of the room and understand what is happening within it, with no app to install and no new workflow to learn.
His verdict, in his words:
In his words
“It's putting me on an equal step with everyone else.”
That is what disability-led design means to us. We are not coming up with solutions on behalf of people. We are working with disabled people who tell us what they need, and then we build it into the platform. And it opens the room to far more people than one lecturer. Anyone with low vision can run a teaching space independently, from their own phone, without having to disclose anything or ask anyone for help.
Assistive AV Control is an industry first, and it is now in use at universities across Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Accessibility by design
You cannot retrofit inclusion
into a hardware controller. You can design it into a platform.
What else did we put in front of the judges?
Our entry covered the biggest year of development in Innomesh's history. Every one of these capabilities came from a customer need.
01 · AI
meshIQ, AI for AV operations.
meshIQ reads an alert, works out the likely root cause, explains the impact and recommends the fix. Ask it a question about your estate in plain language and it builds the answer, chart included. It draws on eight years of control-layer data from real rooms, and it is in production today.
02 · Automation
Self-healing by policy.
Automation policies recover known faults on their own, correct configuration drift, enforce security settings on every device and run scheduled maintenance across the whole fleet. Set the rule once and Innomesh applies it everywhere.
03 · Integration
AV as part of IT.
A secure Platform API and ready-made integrations bring rooms, devices and incidents into the same tools and governance as every other IT service.

04 · Lifecycle
Hardware that lasts longer.
No rip and replace. The hardware already in the room keeps working, customers get 5+ years more life from their fleet, and when a device does fail it is swapped for any supported brand while the room carries on.
05 · Sustainability
Lower environmental cost.
Existing hardware stays in service for longer, and new cloud-native rooms need no control processor at all, so far less equipment is bought, powered and thrown away. That means less e-waste and less energy, room after room.
06 · As a service
Shift the burden.
Get the outcomes.Software, control hardware, security, support and upkeep stop being your burden and become a measurable service. You stay in charge of your rooms and get the outcomes, with fewer products to manage.

Control and Management Technology of the Year
Now the AV Awards have named Innomesh Control and Management Technology of the Year.
This recognition means a lot to our team, and I am proud of every one of them. We started Innomate as customers who lived this problem every day, and this award tells us the industry is ready to run AV the way IT runs everything else. We will keep building Innomesh for our customers, making their rooms more accessible and more inclusive for everyone who uses them.
Watch Innomesh run on your own rooms.
If you are still managing AV one room at a time, book a demo and watch Innomesh run on your own rooms. And if accessibility is a specification in your learning spaces, we want to be in that conversation.
