Founded in 1495, the University of Aberdeen is one of Scotland’s four ancient universities, supporting around 15,000 students across twelve academic schools. With major investment in hybrid learning spaces and lecture capture, audiovisual technology has become fundamental to teaching, yet the systems behind it grew too complicated to manage.
Over 350 AV-enabled spaces, of which 304 are being rolled out, and 2,500 connected devices created a patchwork of platforms that strained staff and budgets. Updates broke configurations, troubleshooting was time-consuming, and there was no single view of performance or usage.
We had a mixed bag of AV control and monitoring solutions, none of which were particularly reliable or well configured. Costs and maintainability were becoming real issues, and we had no single source of truth for our AV estate.
